In a whole range of Russian regions and post soviet republics (South Ural, Western Siberia, Bashkiria and others) there are groundwaters containing Boron and other natural chemical components. Boron contained in groundwaters of the mentioned regions has concentration exceeding maximal permissible concentration 6-15 times. Boron is a bioactive substance. According to Sanitary regulations of the Russian Federation 2.1 .4. 1074-01 Boron is referred to the second class of danger. MPC of Boron for potable water is within 0,5-0,2mg/l. At the present moment the most effective and tested method of surplus Boron removal from water is ion-exchange method. According to the proposed technology (drawing 3)water treatment from Boron and Brome is carried out by water decantation on anionites at two stages with predegasssing and aerating in order to remove excess carbon dioxide, to transfer Brome into oxidized form (Bromide) and to improve general organoleptic water characteristics. At the first stage Boron is removed from water in ion-exchange filters charged with highly selected resin "S-108" on polystyrene base with polyamide groups in OH-form. On the second stage Boron is removed from water by oxidative-adsorptive method on filter charged with highly basic anion resin
Dr.3 Principal technological scheme of Boron and Brome removal from groundwater. 1 – feed of groundwater containing Boron and Brome for treatment; 2 – air feed; 3 – degassing-aeration column; 4 – degassing water tank; 5 – pump; 6 – treated water feed to OH-anionite filter; 7 - ion-exchange OH-anionite filter; 8 – highly selective ion resin “S-108” in OH form; 9 – feed of oxidant – active chlorine (Cl or NaClO) into processed water; 10 – oxidative-sorption filter; 11 – stronglybase anionite AB-17-8 in SG form; 12 – water disinfection (UV rays, chlorine, ozone); 13 – water feed into holding tank and to the customer; 14 – air blowers station; 15 – check-expansion valve Iodine and brome removal from ground waters Iodine and brome removal technology developed at Water management department of South Russian State Technical University is based on oxidative-sorption method, which provides water treatment by oxidant (hydrochloride of nitrogen) with further sorption of oxidized compounds o iodine and brome of hydro oxide of aluminum. Sludge could be utilized at iodine-brome industry for technical products production – iodine and brome. A series of modifications of
modular installations “Halogen”, consisting of 90-95% shop fabrication.
Recently oxidative-sorption method has been developed for brome
removal of water with the use of absorbent carbon as sorptive
medium. |
